Our first full table dinner, with eight at the table, and introducing my slightly wacky sense of history. April 8 is the Worldwide Day of the Romany, an annual gypsy celebration of their culture. The recipes leaned towards the traditional, just because it was a cuisine that was new to me and I wanted to see them relatively unadulterated. We hadn't come up with the Casa SaltShaker name yet - trying out a little aliteration with the Spanish for "Second Saturday Supper Circle", which still has a certain appeal... but would have limited us to the one day a month concept.
