Casa SaltShaker
Buenos Aires, Argentina

This was a specially arranged "private" dinner
organized by a local acquaintance, a "Local Expert" on TripAdvisor, for a
group of folks from those forums...

Posted on TripAdvisor from the night's guests:
"Last night my Nephews and I were lucky enough to spend some time
with some of the locals for a special evening at Casa Saltshaker. We
had been researching our trip to Argentina for 10 months and
discovered that there were real people behind some of the Screen
Names. We decided to thank these people for their quality
suggestions on all sorts of Bs As information. Some were not in Bs
As at the time,
so we invited those that were here. Saltshaker (Dan) was
gracious enough to offer his home as the site, and cook a gourmet
dinner for our wild bunch. Those attending included A..., S.. and
the beautiful L..., M... and his well dressed associate L... L...,
that leather sportcoat was outrageous, imo...And of course my two
Nephews and myself. The food, Malbec and conversation flowed freely
and naturally, and it was a pleasure to finally meet you all. Henry,
I hope you are feeling better, and it was a pleasure meeting you as
well. As much as we are different, we are what I consider Gobal
Fiends. We laughed, we told stories, and gave brief autobiographies
on our youth to the present. It was truly a wonderful experience,
and we thank you for taking the time to make our first (but not
last) trip to Argentina truly special... " T.C.
"Must say Dan´s place ( Saltshakers in-house restaurant) was very
enjoyable and a very good choice if looking for dinner in a quiet and
intimate athmosphere. One easily feels Maestro´s care for details
(light , decoration, flowers, table layout, food presentation and
quality). His Home-Resto is well located in Recoleta and walking
distance from close hotels of tourist areas. I find S. resto , its a
very valid alternative to restaurants of BA. And a good oportunity to
ask Dan about his recomendations and tips, both for restaurants and
touring." - S.B.
"What
I liked most were Dan's pork "empanadas". - A.G.
"The dinner was amazing. I couldn't have said anything better
than how S... described the meal. Thanks again to all of you at the
dinner. Good wine, good company, good food. This is really what life
is all about."
"It was a really great dinner as I posted in the other thread.
Everyone was great, great conversation and great food and wine. I
get invited to so many dinners and usually refuse but there was
something carefree about how C... had his invitation. And it didn't
hurt that he said that SaltShaker was cooking as I was an admirer of
his website once I found out about it. I highly recommend anyone
that wants a small, more intimate dinner to arrange a dinner at Casa
Salt Shaker. I really miss homemade food as I'm literally eating in
restaurants every single day with almost no exception. - M.K.
