October 27, 2006

I’d heard of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines… but that was because I collected stamps as a teen. Otherwise, I’d bet it never would have impinged upon my consciousness. So when it popped up that October 27 (1979) was Independence Day for the country, it gave me a chance to do some reading about the place and perhaps even exploring some of the food...

Thoughts from some of our guests:

Thank you both so much for hosting us in your home restaurant on Friday night. It was nice to read about the menu on your blog. I´m actually glad that you didn´t discover the popularity of starfruit until it was too late to use in the menu - the mango and shrimp salad was our favorite. We are also going to try making the jerk chicken from the recipe that you posted (though the long list of ingredients really made me appreciate all of the work you put into the meal). I´m sorry that I didn´t finish all of my food - your portions were very generous and I wanted to be able to try at least some of every dish. The small group suited us well as we are a bit introverted. We will certainly come back the next time we are in BA (which hopefully won´t be too far in the future) and we have already sung your praises to both other tourists and some locals here at our B&B. PS - Seriously, that was the best whipped cream I´ve ever tasted! - H.K.
