What to do when there are competing themes for an evening,
and none of them quite generates an entire menu? Well, use them all, even
if they have little to do with each other. This last weekend celebrated
the 30th anniversary release of the original Star Wars - more
commonly known as the Universal Day of the Jedi, the 6th annual
celebration of International Towel Day, a tribute to the late, hoopy,
Douglas Adams, author of the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, and, for
some reason, I was under the impression that it was also the anniversary
of the first commercially introduced mustard…
"Meant to drop you a line to thank you for the wonderful evening
last week. Ironically, I was listening to a podcast called TWIT (This
Week In Tech) and they mentioned both International Towel Day and the
Star Wars anniversary. Apparently these guys are using the same calendar
you are using." - J.G.
"The experience was great... theres really nothing i can say that
i would change... a very different idea. But i would like to mention one
thing but i dont know how you would go about changing or altering it,
lucky for me that i speak both languages perfect but for a person who
does not know much english etc the experience might be a little
different or awkward ... I think its great being able to interact with
other people for many different reasons, in the case of my husband that
night he liked the experience but felt a little left out at times (lucky
that the guy next to him spoke quite a bit of spanish) ... I wasn`t
aware that so many foreign peolple attended.. Any hows the night was
different, the wine was great and the food was perfect." - I.D.
" I thought the dinner was very well coordinated and thought out.
The food was excellent as well. The only thing I would have liked is a
menu listing including the paired wines. I think there was only one copy
at our table and I am not sure if the wines were listed?? I would have
liked to have taken a copy with me as some of the wines were excellent.
Also, perhaps a quick go around of intro's of people at the dinner:
name, where your from, favourite foodie experience and/or interesting
hobbie. This could serve as a conversation starter and help break the
ice amongst strangers." - M.F. [We have copies for anyone who would like
them every evening, and the wines are, as you can see above, listed.]
"I enjoyed the dinner party very much, thank you. Perhaps the only
comment I have, and it is my personal argentinian point of view, is
sometimes it works to tell the people where to take a seat and sometimes
they should choose by their own. The food was excellent and the
atmosphere and Dan's explanationes were also great. As I work managing
foreigner's properties here in Buenos Aires, it is a good opportunity to
meet people who is visiting our country and to know how they feel here."
- M.A.
"Delightful time last night. you are the perfect host, and
inventive chef. good stuff, all around. two very interesting women at
the table." - G.S.
