My thoughts latched onto the story, and from there I jumped to the book I’ve just finished reading through - La Nueva Cocina Uruguaya by Hugo García Robles - a look at how a handful of intrepid Uruguayan chefs are reinventing the country’s classic cuisine. And, away we go…

Thoughts from some of our guests:

"I couldn't have thought of a beter way to spend a night in Buenos Aires than to have dinner at your place. I had a great time - the food, the wine, the dinner companions and the great info and stories about BA that Dan shared at the end of dinner. I look forward to returning on my next trip (and there will be a next trip since I had a great time during my 3 days there) which I will make sure to bring my wife." - J.F.

"Thank you for providing us the opportunity to experience your culinary talents, and to share our experience with other travelers. We enjoyed your food and your paired wines, and we were fortunate enough that another guest of yours was the former girlfriend (and ex-wife) of my best high school buddy! And she knew P..., who came to the first dinner we attended. What a small world. We had a lot of fun catching up on the last 45+ years! So we are looking forward to dining with you again, when we return to BA, most likely in November, 2008" - D.C.

"Well, other than providing me another long-lost friend from high school days, I don’t know how you can top the last time. Actually, it would be nice to have a small printed list of the wines served, in case we want to try them again. We thought the meal was beautifully presented and served, your explanations were clear and concise, and the setting is conducive to good conversation and fun." - F.D.

"Thanks for the wonderful evening! I've been already telling to my friends that they should also try dinner at Casa SaltShaker when they will travel to Buenos Aires! I loved the city a lot, hopefully I can be back soon. Best regards from Dubai." - J.I.

"My parents and I thourghly enjoyed our evening at your apartment and your incredibel meal. I really cannot htink of any other comments except how enjoyable it was. I am not much of a writer but just did a posting on tripadvisor and included you." - R.G.
