Here at Casa SaltShaker, I’m back from my little jaunt, though Henry is
still away for a few weeks, and I got things up and running again this
weekend with the help of a very willing, but very nervous friend who has
never waited tables before. She did fine, and will continue to fill in for
the upcoming week. First up on the agenda, the celebration of Yemanja,
goddess of the seas, and one of the most important dieties of the Yoruba
culture in Western Africa (and, via slave trade, Brazil). It seemed a
perfect opportunity to pull out some West African cookbooks and do a
little experimenting.

Thoughts from some of our guests:
"We had a great time. Everything was perfect. Can’t wait to return to
BA." - B.T.
"Sorry it has taken awhile to get back to you. We're back in Charleston
and had a wonderful time. Thanks for the tip at Palermo Posada. That was
much better than the Marriott. Also La Cabana wasn't bad. I think they
knew who we were and the half price off the bill was a nice tonic too.
M... and I loved our time at your home and thank you very much for a
wonderful meal and the company. Our only thought was to possible offer
some type of beverage upon arrival as it was a bit awkward meeting new
people and having a glass of something is always a nice way to break the
ice. [Note: we've actually started doing this as of March 2008 - we do
listen.] Otherwise, an absolutely lovely evening and I wouldn't change a
thing." - S.L.
