March 14-15, 2008

Pi Day - which, of course, you all celebrated… March 14… 3.14… in reality we celebrated it for two days and miraculously, the numbers work… 3.14 15… The natural thought on the part of some of the guests was that I might be subjecting them to a series of five pies of one sort or another, and I did consider it - there are enough different ways to approach a pie that I could have made it work, but in the end I went a bit further afield….

Thoughts from some of our guests:

"I've been planning to contact you to thank you - you beat me to it! Honestly, I have absolutely no complaints. The time we spent with you - on the tour and at the dinner - were highlights of our trip. The tour was the perfect intro/orientation to BA, and the dinner was the best meal we had during that week, believe it or not! I would recommend it to any of my friends planning a trip down there." - M.C.

"Thanks so much for a great meal last Friday (and for being so considerate in making the delicious vegetarian dish). I just got back to the States yesterday and I can say it was the best food on my whole trip and the communal table setting was really nice. I am now a big Glamorgan sausage fan and need to seek them out here in NYC!" - K.C.

"Dan and Henry, What a fantanstic time we had!!!!! On the flight home we were talking about the highlights of the trip and the Saltshaker experience was on the top of both of our lists!!!! The concept, the menu and the hospitality offered made the evening a memory that we will not forget. We continued to run into the others from our table the rest of the week. When your email came yesterday I heard the "ding" that an email had arrived, but I was in the process at that exact moment of ordering three copies of your English/Spanish Food and Wine Dictionary from Amazon, one for us and the other two for friends. Kind of spooky!!! I know that M... is going to want to reply as well, so I won't go on and on. I don't think you need to change anything. My only advice would be to charge more!!!!" - W.S.

"Everything W... said in his email is true - the experience at Casa SaltShaker was the best; we shared your website with friends (the ones who will receive your book, too) and we are now the envy of the neighborhood. We'll see you again when we return to see more of Argentina - next time our trip will include Mendoza. Thanks for introducing us to those fabulous wines! Best wishes to both of you for your continued success! Thanks again for making sure that we had a place at your table ... One favor - if it is possible. Would you mind sharing your recipe with me for the delicious English (I think) "sausage" you served on the 14th? I understand if you would prefer not to - but it was so unique that I would love to try to make it myself." - M.S.
